Phylocards: A card sorting activity for teaching plant evolution.

Evolution in general and plant evolution in particular are topics that often present major challenges to students encountering the study of phylogeny or botany for the first time. Building upon several different lab exercises and card sorting activities, we developed a card sorting activity called Phylocards which can be used to quickly demonstrate phylogenetic concepts, teach major trends in plant evolution, and evaluate student understanding of these topics.
